Closure date revealed for Morrisons stores

Supermarket giant Morrisons has revealed the closure dates for a number of convenience stores it plans to shut – including two in Scotland.

The sites in Peebles in the Borders and Stewarton in East Ayrshire will close on 16 April.

Morrisons announced the move as part of wider closure plans last month in the face of significant pressure from the growth of rivals in the sector.

It said most of the staff affected were expected to be redeployed but some would be at risk of redundancy.
